The perfect choice for the ultralight hammock backpacker.

The Simplicity tarp offers the basic level of protection from the elements at the lightest weight possible.  It is designed as a minimalist tarp for light rain and as a sun shade.  It does not function as well in blowing wind and rain and extreme wind can possibly damage the tarp.

If you choose a U-Pick color(which only applies to the solid colors and not any specialty printed fabrics), these are ordered as needed from either Dutchware(Xenon Sil lines) or Ripstopbytheroll (Silpoly lines), so please verify colors and availability at their respective sites.

Features:

  • Standard Size(measured from corner to corner): 137" x 109" (@143" X 116" for Silpoly XL or Xenon Sil Wide)
  • Now available in a shorter length that works well with 9' & 10' Hammocks
  • Ridgeline runs along longest length - 137" (143" for Silpoly XL or Xenon Sil Wide) on standard length version
  • Reinforced corner tieouts
  • Optional Storm Mode Tie Outs - allow for shortening ridgeline and lowering tarp sides slightly to ride out heavier storms - roughly 124" (127" for Silpoly XL or Xenon Sil Wide)
  • Ground tie outs can be configured with a variety of tie out options
  • To help visualize the setup of an asym Tarp, imagine a parallelogram shaped tarp with the ridgeline running along the distance between the two furthest points
  • Available in two lengths, standard and XL (adds @ 12” to ridgeline length)

Please note: Since this is an asymmetrical product, you will need to decide which orientation you would like if you sleep in a diagonal in your hammock. When laying on your back in the hammock and looking up, if you sleep with your head to the right of the hammock and feet to the left, choose the "head right/left feet" orientation, or vice versa.

Also, since the ridgeline of the tarp runs along the bias (or angle) of the fabric, there is no ridgeline seam. Due to fabric stretching along the bias, your ridgeline will not be as "tight" as standard tarps. Exercise care until you are familiar with setting it up that you do not over tighten your ridgeline.

Includes:

  • Asym Tarp & Stuff Sack
  • Weights will vary depending on fabric and options chosen (see charts below)

Optional Accessories:

  • 2mm Orange Reflective Guyline in various lengths (Does not work with Line Lock V's or Line Lock Lites (10mm version)
  • For your ridgeline cord that gets tied out to the trees, you can choose to use your own, 25’ of Zing It 1.75mm line, pair of Dutchware Flyz either as hardware only to use your own line or spliced to 12’ Zing It lines
  • (2) Aluminum Y-stakes or UL Titanium Hook Stakes
  • Tie outs can be configured with:
    Loops Only
Line Loc 3's (standard on my tarps, work best with 1.5-2.5mm line)
Line Lock V - Small "v" groove can hold line as small a 1mm
Line Lock Lite (10mm) - works well with line around 1.5mm)
Line Lock Lite (15mm) - lighter version of Line Loc 3's holding 2-3mm line)
    D-Rings (1/2")
  • Patch Kit - Perfect for emergency repairs or there is even enough caulk that it can be used to reseal the seams if that ever needs to be done in the future.  Includes small tube of silicone caulk, 12" x 12" matching fabric (custom tarps may not have quite a large piece, but will include what is available), stir stick (caulk can either be applied directly to tarp without diluting, or it can be diluted for thinner applications).

Good stuff, but watch the temp
Model: NewSLS50_52
I used this in my single cab pickup truck (89 ford.) It only took half the box (10 sheets or 25 square feet) to do the floors, but I bought the big box because I plan to do the doors, back wall, and maybe the roof as well. One thing I learned is that the temperature matters when you’re doing the installation. It was around 55F when I started in the evening, and when it dipped down into the 40s the sheets would not stick to the metal, and were hard to compress with the roller. That’s why I ended up only doing the floors and not any vertical surfaces; i will have to wait for a nice hot day. The other thing is that the foil layer on top is razor sharp at the edges, definitely wear gloves! I didn’t notice until after but I have little papercuts all over my fingers. Aside from those things, the install was easy and straightforward. The sheets cut easily with scissors, and any goo that ends up on your hands or scissors can be cleaned up with acetone (nail polish remover), or lacquer thinner. I would use this stuff again.

This will work but prep is key!
I have an older RV that the gelcoat has dulled and is oxidized, but otherwise in good shape. I have buffed and polished in the past only for it to last a short time. I was looking up different products to try and this one has such good reviews, I thought I would give it a try. I bought the kit with the Poliglow and the Poliprep, with the scrubber and the microfiber glove. I started with the poliprep and it did a great job of gettting the streaks and black marks off. You spend a lot of time scrubbing to your likeness because anything that is still on the gelcoat when you apply the poliglow, it will be locked in there. The Poliglow is like a clearcoat that goes over the gelcoat. You have to build up layers and here are some of the tips and tricks I figured out that really helped my finished RV look great. First, make sure the applicator stays damp, this keeps the poliglow more uniform across the glove. Also, stick it in a zip lock bag when not using, you do not want it to dry out while you are using it. I found out that applying this in direct sunlight in warm temps, is the best method. This allows the poliglow to dry really fast. The first 3 or 4 layers will look streaky and dull but this is ok and as you build up the layers, the shine will come back. I found if you do this when its cooler, the layers do not dry as quick and you will get some permanent streaking or running. I had to remove a section I did in the evening because I noticed this. When in direct sunlight, this gave me the best results with no streaking or running. It dries fast and you can keep working. Like it says, do not do big sections at a time, keep it to small what you can reach sections and build those up and move on. As far as how much to buy? I have a 40 ft toy hauler and I got to kits and I had just enough to finish the whole thing minus the nose cap. I have Durabak on the nose cap, so I dont need to worry about that. I ended up buying one more bottle of the poliglow to have for my maintenance coats. Overall, I am pleased with how my 10 year old RV looks and other than some of the decals show age, it looks new again. If I were to buy a new RV, I would put this on right away and preserve the whole RV including the decals. Its not too expensive and its a lot of work, especially the prep, but it does end up with great results.

Excellent shine
Excellent line of products. Looking at the picture, you can see what the camper looked like before the Poli Glow. To the left of the window is the after Poli Glow. It takes some elbow grease (follow instructions well) but well worth it.

One bottle covered my 20ft camping trailer 4 coats and with a little remaining for future touch ups. It definitely increases the gloss. I'm glad I didn't waste my time with wax. This is like an easy wipe on clear coat. I will report back in the future for longevity.
